All the departments of TPGIT are recognized as research centers of Anna University, Chennai. Committed to excellence in fundamental research as well as the development of innovative technologies for the current & future generation, TPGIT is offering research programs in different branches of Engineering [Civil, Mechanical, ECE, EEE and CSE] and in Science and Humanities. All the Research scholars either pursuing through regular or part time mode should be admitted through Anna University. Ever since its inception in the year 1990, the Institution has taken concerted efforts towards differentiating itself by encouraging Innovation and Research development. It provides support and guidance to enable faculty and students to take up research and innovative development relevant to industry as well as society. Sophisticated research facilities are available in all the departments.
TPGIT motivates multidisciplinary research approach and collaborative research approach with eminent Institutes and Industry. Government of Tamil Nadu granted Rs. 2 crores for encouraging research activities for the academic year 2020-2021. The Center for Research & Consultancy of TPGIT also uplifts the faculty and Research scholars to receive funds from various agencies such as AICTE, DST, DRDO, TANNI, TNSCST, DBT, DAE etc.,
